EFF AnimalsPi font traditionally used to mean any font that does not have standard letters for setting text. These days such fonts are called Symbolic and Pi fonts are just a subset of symbolic fonts. The modern Pi fonts are only the fonts with special typographical symbols such as Dingbats or Windings.
