The Bar Code 3 of 9 consists of digits, capital letters and some symbols as shown on the last page. Each letter is made out of three wide and six narrow bars, five of which are black and four white. There are several specifications for the ratio of wide and narrow bars. In order to satisfy AIM Uniform Symbol Specification, AIAG, HIBC and Logmars specifications, the wide and narrow bar ratio in the EFF Bar Code 3 of 9 has been chosen to be 3. For the same reason, the ratio of the intercharacter space and the narrow bar has been chosen to be:

With the above choice of the specification ratios, the printed Bar Code 3 of 9 should always give error free reading.
The Bleed version of the fonts is for printing with ink that spreads over paper thus changing width to height ratios of the bars.
