EFF Baskerville SmallCaps (6 fonts)Small caps fonts have a smaller version of capital letters instead of the usual lower case letters. One could generate small caps "automatically" by setting all text in capitals and changing all the letters which were ment to be lower case to, say, 60% of their point size (some DTP applications have an option to do it for you). Unfortunately, that would also make them 40% thinner than they should be since lower case letters are not that much thinner than the capital letters. A text set in "automatically" generated small caps looks optically uneven and that is why typographers spent time making them properly (and charging money for them).
